GREAT COMMUNITY NEWS!
AS NOTED IN THE LOCAL PAPER, THE MISS GOLDSBORO
SCHoLaRSHIP ASSOCIATION FRANCHISE WAS RECENTLY ACQUIRED BY KATE DANIELS AND JAY SAULS. THEIR DYNAMIC PERSONALITIES
AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE MISS AMERICA PROGRAM WILL SURELY ENHANCE THE MISS GOLDSBORO PROGRAM AND ITS POSITION IN OUR COMMUNITY.
The 2008 Miss Goldsboro Pageant will be held on Saturday March 29,
2008 at 7 pm in the new Paramount Theatre. This year's production will portray the modernization
of the Miss America program, while honoring former Miss Goldsboro titleholders. Ten talented and committed area young ladies
will compete for the crown. This is your chance to join the community in supporting this civic organization and to tell our
youth “you are special”.
Support higher education-The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement
programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization
and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. This assistance
is not just for the handful of young women who become Miss America, but is available to the over 12,000 young women who compete
in the state and local competitions as well. This
community service based organization can positively impact community and business development.
Support community service- Giving back to our community is necessary for all; teaching this standard
to our youth is vital. Each contestant vying for the title of Miss Goldsboro actively researches, develops,
and promotes a community service platform in our community. Miss Goldsboro will serve our community, while
promoting her platform, in multiple capacities throughout the year: education and awareness fairs, civic
appearances, mentoring youth, promoting area businesses, and entertaining at local productions.
Support health education- Our current Miss Goldsboro, Nicki Sanderson, has advocated Melanoma Prevention
and Awareness in our community throughout the year. She has held public health seminars, participated in
health fairs, written a feature article for the Goldsboro News-Argus on Melanoma Awareness, spent endless hours educating
teens in the public school system, and spoken at various churches throughout the community with her personal story about Melanoma.
Support the
arts- Wayne County is currently undergoing a Renaissance in the Arts. With the recent opening of the new Paramount
Theatre, our community is embracing the Arts on a grander scale than ever before. The Miss Goldsboro program
promotes the development and presentation of the performing arts, as each contestant competes in a talent phase of competition.
Singing, dancing, poetry, drama, comedy, and instrumental presentations are just a few of the talents which will be
represented by the Miss Goldsboro contestants. The Miss Goldsboro program also encourages confidence, poise, and knowledge
of public issues and current events.
